The only news you'll need all week!
Clearing a New Path™ and Clearing a New Path Podcast™ are products of Radar Media, located in Dorchester, Ontario on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenoshownee and Neutral peoples who once used this land as their traditional beaver hunting grounds. As a settler here I’m committed to deepening understanding of Indigenous communities and reframing responsibilities to land and community. I am grateful to Mother Earth for the opportunity for love and connection and to the spirits of the Elders and the Medicine People who still walk the Earth.

NEWS
On my mind this week:
1. Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, announced a call for proposals for new projects under the Women Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Fund. $25 million is available for projects that aim to remove systemic barriers and create more equal access to the resources that intersectionally diverse and underserved women in business need to succeed. More details and how to apply.
2. Wondering why you don't see more rural Canadian news stories? According to a BIPOC reporter/editor, it's terrifying to be a minority in a sea of white faces. Read this account from the former editor of the Creston Valley Advance in British Columbia. (New Canadian Media)
3. Homelessness in rural Canada is real. Demand for community meal programs in Grey-Bruce has gone up 300 per cent. New app puts spotlight on hunger in rural Ontario "The real cause is poverty and the lack of affordable and safe housing." (CBC London)
3. Have you seen this TED Talk? The Rural Reality: A Conversation on Race in Rural Canada | Trystan Jones
4. A group in Timmins, Ontario finalized a project aimed at tackling racism and discrimination in the city. (Toronto Star)
5. Have you seen CBC's documentary series Arctic Vet? They travel to the Yukon this season!
